FOOD SUSTAINABILITY AND HCI (HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION

“Our lives have become increasingly immersed in technology. Much of our communication is now online... many of us find our mobile phones have become an essential part of our connectivity and everyday organisation” (Howard - Jones, 2011)

This immersion have a very large potential that can be utilised to help us explore healthier lifestyles and more environmentally friendly. We started by investigating the habits and behaviour of different individuals towards food consumptions and how aware are they of the types of food they usually consume.

So in order to utilise this technology towards the issues of food consumption, we have set two areas of focus.

1. Exploring current behaviour of individuals towards food consumption.
2. Looking for ways to ease the awareness of food consumption for the consumer.

However, by exploring the behaviour of the individuals towards food products. We can gather a wide variety of information not only related to health and environmental concerns but also to related to moods and needs. This will give us an overview understanding of the behaviours and ultimately being ability to change them.

Left images are one of personas we generate from user interviews and paper prototypes in order to produce the suitable user experience.
